The Municipality of Tripolis belongs to the Prefecture of Arcadia in the Peloponnese and its current form is due to the consolidation of the former municipalities of central Arcadia: Valtetsi, Corithiou, Levidi, Mantineia, Skritida, Tegea, Tripoli and Falanthos, according to the Kallikratis program.
The municipality has an area of ​​1,481km2 and a population of 47,457 inhabitants, based on the latest census of 2011.

Important squares are Saint Basil's, where the Cathedral of St. Basil and Kolokotronis Square are located. At Areos Square there is the monument of Theodoros Kolokotronis, where from 1993 on a special crypt at its base are his bones.
