The Municipality of Filothei-Psychiko belongs to the Northern Sector of Athens of the Region of Attica and its present form is due to the consolidation of the former municipalities of Psychiko, Neo Psychiko and Filothei, according to the Kallikratis Program.
The Municipality has an area of ​​6.2km2 and a population of 26.968 inhabitants, based on the latest census of 2011.
Psychiko and Filothei are among the most beautiful suburbs of Athens and even more expensive. Are areas with very green, luxurious residences, mainly detached houses. They are two suburbs very close to the center of Athens with excellent planning.
There are many embassies and consulates in Psichiko. Also in this area there are facilities of the educational institution of Athens College, as well as Arsakeio.
The area of ​​Filothei took its name from Agia Filothei (she lived during the Ottoman rule), because of the fact that her cache was found in the area. Psychiko took his name again because of St. Philothei, who, because he was particularly philanthropic, opened in the area of ​​the Psychiko Well for the farmers to rest. From this psychic of the Saint was called the region of Psychiko.
