The Municipality of Paxos belongs to the Prefecture of Corfu and includes the islands of Paxos and Antipaxos. Paxos are divided into four municipal districts of Gaios, Lakkas, Loggos and Magazias.
The Municipality has an area of ​​25.32 km and a population of 2.300, based on the latest census of 2011 and is home to Gaios.
Paxos is the smallest island of the Ionian Islands. Historically, they were under Venetian occupation for 400 years and followed by the French, the English until the island was joined with mother Greece in 1864.
The harbor of Gai is impressive. In front of it there are two green islands, Panagia with the homonymous monastery and Saint Nikolas. A Venetian castle and a windmill are situated on Saint Nicola. The houses of the island preserve the traditional elements, while there are several enchanting beaches, as well as caves such as the one of Ypapanti, where seals are sheltered.
The island of Antipaxos is three miles from Paxos. In this small islet the visitor will see beautiful beaches and blue clear waters, such as Voutomi and Vrika.
