The Municipality of Nikaia - Agios Ioannis Rentis belongs to the Regional Unity of Piraeus of the Attica Region and its current form is due to the consolidation of the former municipalities of Nikaia and AI Rentis, according to the Kallikratis Program.
The municipality has an area of 11,173km2 and a population of 105,430 inhabitants, based on the latest census of 2011.
The seat of the City of Nice-AI Renti was designated Nice.
Nikea was formerly called Old Kokkinia or Kokkinia and was created by refugees who settled in the area coming from Asia Minor after the Asia Minor Catastrophe.
During the German Occupation, the region martyred (a martyr city) as a result of the so-called "Blok of Kokkinia", where German soldiers executed 350 civilians in one day, raided and burned houses.
The area of Agios Ioannis Rentis is believed to have been in ancient times the Municipality of Olive Tree of Ancient Athens.
The name came from the homonymous church in the central square belonging to the Rentis family.
Agios Ioannis Rentis is an area with many industries and factories.
In the area there is Village Park and the Allou Fun Park.
