The Municipality of Mandra-Idylia belongs to the Peripheral Unity of Western Attica and its present form is due to the consolidation of the former municipalities of Mandra, Erythrons, Vilnias and the Community of Oinoi, according to the Kallikratis Program.
The Municipality has an area of ​​426,197km2 and a population of 17,885 inhabitants, based on the latest census of 2011.
The seat of Mandra-Idylia Municipality was designated Mandra.
In the area of ​​Mandra are the ancient cities of Eleuthera and Myoupolis of Kithairona. Elefthers was the city of Boeotia until the 6th century BC that the Athenians took under control. From this city, the worship of God Dionysus was spread in Athens.
Today ruins of the ancient city of Eleutheres have survived. The name is the Byzantine monastery of Osios Meletios Kithaironas (11th century). Also the Metropolitan Church of St. Constantine and Helen of the region is the work of Ernest Ziller in 1893.
