The Municipality of Kynouria belongs to the Prefecture of Arcadia in the Peloponnese and was created after the consolidation of the former municipalities of Leonidio, Tyros and Kosmas, according to the Kallikratis program.
The area of ​​the municipality is 583.16km2 and has a population of 9.686 inhabitants, based on the latest census of 2011.

The seaside Leonidio was created in 1826, when Ibrahim burned the village of Prastos and the inhabitants fled to the area. Leonidio has experienced great economic growth over the years, and this is evident from the mansions that survive in the area even today. Leonidio is a summer tourist destination.
On the beach of Tyros, it is believed that God Apollo was worshiped by the Tire, and that is why it is also named.
