The Municipality of Saronikos belongs to the Peripheral Unity of Eastern Attica and its present form is due to the consolidation of the former municipalities Kalyvia Thorikou and Anavyssos and the communities Kouvaras, Palea Fokea and Saronida, according to the Kallikratis Program.
The Municipality has an area of ​​133,43km2 and a population of 29,002 inhabitants, based on the latest census of 2011.
In recent years, the Municipality of Saronikos has developed due to its proximity to the International Airport El. Venizelou. Also, the coastal sections of the Municipality, such as Lagonissi, Saronida, Anavyssos, while formerly places for summer holidays, today many residents have settled permanently.
Lagonissi, Saronida, Anavyssos and Palea Fokea have several kilometers of famous beaches, many of which are fully organized. During the summer months, the population is growing, while weekends make the beaches in the area suffocated by bathers.
The area has many dining outlets as well as lively nightlife.
