The Municipality of Halandri belongs to the Athens North Region of the Region of Athens and has an area of ​​10,810 km2 and a population of 74,192 inhabitants.
The Municipality is located at the site where the Ancient Athenian Municipality of Flyas (town and municipality of Kekorpida) was in ancient times.
The region during the Ottoman domination belonged to Turkish landowners. Later, after the liberation, wealthy Athenians bought large areas and built two-storey houses with huge gardens. Today most of these houses do not exist and in their place, there have been erected apartment blocks.
After the Asia Minor Catastrophe in Halandri refugees were settled. There is an Emperor of Asia Minor in the area.
Halandri is one of the most beautiful areas of Athens, it has a very good shopping market, as well as food stores.
