The Municipality of Anafi belongs to the Prefecture of the Cyclades of the South Aegean Region and consists of the island of Anafi and the surrounding islets.

According to mythology, this island emerged from the sea under the command of God Apollo to enable the Argonauts to escape and be saved from a great storm.
In Anafi there was life since ancient times. In the 5th century he was an ally of Athens and in 1207 he was imprisoned by Venetian Marco Sanudo. The Turks conquered it in 1537 and in 1832 it was united with Greece.
During the years of Otto, most of the inhabitants left the island and settled on the north side of the Acropolis in Athens. This area is called Anafiotika.
The country of Anafi is built high and preserves the Cycladic color and architecture. In the area of ​​Kastelli there are ruins of the ancient city. From the sights of the island is the monastery of Panagia Kalamiotissa.
