The Municipality of Agios Dimitrios or Brahmami belongs to the Southern District of Athens of the Attica Region. It borders East with the Municipality of Ilioupolis, westwards with the Municipality of Nea Smyrni, north with the Municipality of Dafni-Ymittos and south with the Municipalities of Alimos and Palaio Faliro.
The Municipality has an area of ​​4,949km2 and a population of 70,970 inhabitants, based on the latest census of 2011.
During the Ottoman domination, the area had estates and there was also a village belonging to Brahma Pasha. From him the municipality took its name (Brahmami). The municipality has begun to be inhabited since the mid-war years.
Agios Dimitrios crosses the stream of Pikrodaphni, the only one left in southern Athens, which starts from Hymettus and flows into the sea of ​​the Municipality of Palaio Faliro.
In the area of ​​the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios is the Athens Metro Mall.
